Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup warm water (100-110°F)

  • 3/4 tsp active dry yeast

  • 1 Tbsp sugar, plus a pinch

  • 1 1/2 Cups bread flour

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 2 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted and cooled

  • Cooking spray

  • 1/4 cup sugar

  • 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar

  • 1 Tbsp ground cinnamon

  • 6 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted

  • 2 Tbsp light corn syrup

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 2 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted

  • 3 Tbsp milk

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Directions

  • Stir warm water, yeast, and a pinch of sugar together. Rest 5–8 minutes, until foamy.
  • Mix bread flour, 1 Tbsp sugar, salt, and 2 Tbsp melted butter. Add the yeast mixture and knead for 8 minutes.
  • Place in a greased bowl and cover. Let rise about 1½ hours, until doubled.
  • Punch down and knead a few times. Divide into two 3×6-inch loaves. Place on a sprayed baking sheet, cover, and rise 30–60 minutes.
  • Heat oven to 350°F. Line two 9×5-inch loaf pans with parchment. Mix both sugars with cinnamon. Separately mix 6 Tbsp melted butter with corn syrup.
  • Cut 4 deep slashes in each loaf. Dip each loaf in the butter mixture, then cinnamon sugar, working it into the slashes.
  • Place loaves in pans. Add remaining butter mixture and cinnamon sugar. Bake 25–30 minutes. Cool 15 minutes.
  • Whisk the powdered sugar, melted butter, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle over the warm loaves or serve on the side.
