Ingredients

  • 1 pound pecans

  • 1 egg white

  • 1 teaspoon cold water

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1 teaspoon salt

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 250°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Beat egg white and cold water until foamy.
  • Stir in sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add pecans and toss until evenly coated.
  • Spread pecans in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 40–60 minutes, stirring every 15–20 minutes. Begin checking at 40 minutes, as ovens vary. Pecans should be dry and lightly crisp.
  • Remove from oven and let cool completely. Pecans will become crunchier as they cool. Store in an airtight container.

Notes

  • Stir pecans every 15–20 minutes while baking to ensure an even, crunchy sugar coating. Begin checking at 40 minutes to prevent overbaking. Pecans will become crispier as they cool. Allow to cool completely before storing in an airtight container. These make wonderful homemade gifts for the holidays!
